Rhay (full name Rhay Kingston) is the initial deuteragonist of the level 97 quest, The Breaking Point. His main role is working with the player to get a Magmaflux Capacitor from Corkus Island along with his husband Maxie's and Corkian city council member Nodise's aid.

On the way to Corkus, he explains the troubles the Colossus has been causing for eastern Gavel, particularly the Canyon of the Lost. When it is later revealed in the quest that Rhay is Maxie's husband, the player is shocked to learn the fact, but Maxie explains that it's mainly due to the fact that the player is hard to reach out in the world. After the capacitor is obtained, he and the player unsuccessfully try to fix the stabilizer he created using the capacitor. However, another scientist Rhay is working with, Ineos, learns that the Dwarves and Doguns have made peace due to some recent events, which causes Ineos to work with the player alongside some Dwarves and Doguns to help fix the Colossus. Rhay returns in the quest at the end to give encouragement to the player to fix the Colossus.

After the Breaking Point has been completed, Rhay can be found in Kandon-Beda near Astal's old lookout.

Dialogue

After The Breaking Point has been completed:

• Rhay: It's great to see you again! I bet you've gotten up to all sorts of adventures since the whole Colossus thing.
• Rhay: It seems like you and the Doguns have all that under control now - I'm just packing up here, cleaning up the old workstation.
• Rhay: I'm excited to get back to Corkus, mostly. Gavel is nice, but... well, home is where the heart is, as they say. One heart in particular.

Festival of the Blizzard

Rhay could be invited to the Festival of the Blizzard starting in 2023. He is a part of Character Set V and requires the completion of The Breaking Point as well as his husband Maxie to be invited.

Inviting to Detlas

• Rhay: Hey! It's good to see you again. I'm just... packing up, over here.
  • [1] I wanted to invite you to a festival in Detlas.
    • Rhay: A festival? Right, I think Maxie told me about that!
    • Rhay: I told him I still need to finish things up here, but... I'm starting to think that might've been a mistake.
    • Rhay: Well. It's not like I have much going on here, really! The cleanup can wait.
    • Rhay: I'll come to the festival, <playername>. I'll see you there!
  • [2] Is that a Dogun Elder over there?
    • Rhay: Oh, Yeah, it is. He's been... around.
    • Rhay: It's a little weird having him around, what with how much Ineos told me about them.
    • Rhay: I guess he just doesn't want to be around the dwarves, which... is fair. I can't blame him.
  • [3] How're you doing?
    • Rhay: I'm doing alright. Still a little... I guess frustrated by how our machine didn't work out. It's alright, though. Things worked out in the end.

First Conversation

• Rhay: This is nice. We don't get snow in Corkus, you know? The climate doesn't really allow for it.
• Rhay: Though, from what I've heard, Detlas doesn't either... Well, I won't complain.
• Maxie: It's good to have you here too, love. Missed you.
• Rhay: Missed you too. We have the rest of the festival to enjoy ourselves here, though. Let's make the most of it.

Following Conversations

• Rhay: Hey, <playername>! Are you enjoying the festival?
  • [1] Are you participating in the gift-giving?
    • Rhay: I have a gift prepared just for you, actually. Before I left, Ineos approached me with something he wanted me to pass on to you.
    • Rhay: I don't entirely understand the doguns' culture, but... I think these sorts of things mean a lot to them.

    • Rhay: I have one, as well. It's... something to remember us by, even when you're off on other adventures.
    • Maxie: Well, now I feel left out!
    • Rhay: Ha, of course you do. I can ask Ineos if he'd be willing to make you one as well, later. I'm sure he'll say yes.
  • [2] How's Ineos doing?
    • Rhay: He's doing well, I think. He's gone back to the Heights to be with his people, so... I don't get to see him very often.
    • Rhay: He seems happy. I'm happy for him! It's a miracle you all managed to revive those elders at all.
    • Rhay: ...It does feel a little lonely around Kandon without him. The General's still around, but... with how much time we spent working together, it feels weird to not have him by my side.
    • Rhay: But, hey! I'll be heading back to Corkus soon. I won't feel so lonely when I get there, will I?
    • Maxie: Yeah, because I'm not going to leave you around for a whole month! You've been away for so long.
    • Rhay: I know, I know! It's important work, but... I'll be glad to be home.
  • [3] What are your plans for the future?
    • Rhay: I haven't really thought about it! I'm heading back to Corkus soon, but from there... I don't really know.
    • Rhay: Maybe the Council will have more work for me to do. Maybe I'll find a personal project to work on! I'm just not sure yet.
    • Rhay: It's a little weird, not having one big thing to focus on. I've been working with the folks at Kandon for so long, and now that it's over...
    • Rhay: I feel a bit aimless. It's fine, though! I'm sure something will grab my attention soon, and I'll be back in the swing of things.
  • [4] Tell me about Ava.
    • Rhay: You know, I haven't really spoken with her much. She's... something of a new variable.
    • Rhay: It's all a little strange, to tell you the truth. Nodise told me about what happened at the Council, and what she did there.
    • Rhay: But at the same time, Maxie's been telling me about how she's been helping him figure out his electromagic more. Which... is good!
    • Rhay: He's really brilliant, but... he's not as confident as I am about his skills. That's why I think it's great he has someone to help!
    • Rhay: ...Even if that someone couldn't be me.
    • Rhay: So, uh, overall, I guess she's alright? I'll probably still have to talk to her to be sure, but. If Maxie says she's good, he's probably right.
