The Breaking Point is a long level 97 quest situated in Kandon-Beda, and takes place all over the eastern half of Gavel, as well as taking place in a part of Corkus.

Preview

The Canyon Colossus had always kept a watchful eye over the Canyon of the Lost. However, in recent times, the behemoth has started to malfunction. If nothing is done, it could end up destroying the Canyons and the Molten Heights.

Stage 1

» Speak to General Elix at [758, 164, -4463] in Kandon-Beda.

The ground will then shake beneath you.

  • Private Walder: General! Stability is dropping, and fast!

  • General Elix: Urgh... Soldiers, follow protocol! Secure what you can, and leave what you can't! And- you! I haven't forgotten about you. As soon as this all cleans up, we'll-
  • General Elix: Gah! This damned Colossus! What I wouldn't give to...
  • General Elix: ... It's over. Walder! Survey the damages to our equipment! Morec! Take count of injuries around the base, make sure everyone's safe!
    • Private Walder: Yes sir!

Two scientists named ??? will walk up to the stabilizer.

  • ???: General! We came as soon as we could- we were down in the library and the exit co- Oh. Wow.
  • General Elix: Well, Rhay, you're here now, yes? What do you think, can you fix it? We'll need to get it working before-

One of the scientist's names changes to Rhay.

  • Rhay: Can I- No, of course I can't fix it! Not on my own, especially since we don't have the proper equipment around here! Ugh, how long has it even been since last time?
  • ???: It has been... three days... give or take. Rhay... you know we can't keep-
  • Rhay: The stabilizer has been working so far, Ineos! It's some of the finest technology our province has had to offer, and it has been working!

The other scientist's name changes to Ineos.

  • Ineos: Rhay, you know... as well as I do... that it is getting worse. The Protector is... growing resistant to... your machines. We need... a new plan.
  • Rhay: Yes, well, as soon as you come up with one, I'll be glad to hear it! But so far, you've barely gotten anything-
    • Rhay: ...
    • Ineos: ...
  • Rhay: ... Sorry. I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. General, to answer your question... The stabilizer itself is damaged, but you should have what's needed to repair it here.
  • Rhay: The issue is that the controls look like they're fried! And we don't have any replacement parts stored here. We'll have to travel back to Corkus, and...
    • [1] Is there anything I can do to help?
  • General Elix: ...Right. You. You're an adventurer, yes? And you appear to be well-equipped. Then you'll be traveling to Corkus with Rhay, and assist with whatever is needed there.
    • Rhay: Huh?
  • Rhay: Wait, General-... Right. Alright. In that case... I'll give you time to prepare. We'll take the Hot Air Balloon to travel to Corkus, so I'll meet you there. We don't have any time to waste.
  • Ineos: And I will... return to the library. I trust... you will succeed... But we must... prepare for the... worst.
    • Ineos: Alright...

Rhay will then run towards the Hot Air Balloon while Ineos heads towards the library.

Stage 2

» Meet Rhay at the Hot Air Balloon at [770, 162, -4385]

  • Rhay: Ah, you're here! Well, if you're ready, then we'd best be off. Just hop aboard this balloon, and the captain will take us where we need to go.
  • Rhay: I can tell you more while we travel, but we need to get going quick. There's no telling how much time we have before-
  • Rhay: Right, right. Don't mind me, I'm just a little on edge, for... well, obvious reasons. Just hop aboard.

Stage 3

» Travel to Corkus City via the Hot Air Balloon at [775, 165, -4382]

  • Rhay: Well, there it is! The Canyon Colossus itself. The source of all our problems here at Kandon-Beda.
  • Rhay: So! How much do you already know? I know we dragged you into this without telling you much, so... I can fill you in on the details.
    • [1] I heard the General mention it. So it's the source of those earthquakes?
      • Rhay: Oh, he did? Right, that makes sense. Well, you're right in that it's the source of the earthquakes, but there's more to it than that.
      • Rhay: You've seen the Sky Islands, right? Heard of the Fracturing. From what I can tell, what happened to that region a thousand years ago is happening again, here and now.
        • [1] And the Colossus is what's causing it?
      • Rhay: Yes, exactly. It's been malfunctioning for a long time now, and it's starting to tear the canyon apart. That's where we come in.
    • [2] I don't know much about it. Can you tell me about it?
      • Rhay: Well... To start with, it's an ancient thing. It was built long before even the doguns can remember, and they've lived in this region for thousands of years.
      • Rhay: According to Ineos, the doguns used to be responsible for keeping it calm, but ever since the dwarves came in and started their war, that knowledge has been lost to time.
      • Rhay: Which is... a problem! The Colossus has been malfunctioning for hundreds of years, and it's reaching its breaking point. If we don't stop it, it'll tear the canyon apart.
        • [1] Alright. How do we stop it?
    • [3] I've seen the kinds of things it does to the canyon.
      • Rhay: Oh? So you've traveled the canyon, then. Yeah, then you've seen how the canyon twists and changes.
      • Rhay: It destroys peoples' homes, it traps them deep within the maze-like valleys... And, more recently, it has been tearing a hole into the void.
      • Rhay: This thing is ancient, and we don't know how it works. The best we can do is try to keep it from reaching its breaking point, and prevent the canyon from meeting the same fate as the Sky Islands.
  • Rhay: So, Gavel's government contacted us in Corkus some time ago, requesting our help to deal with this threat.
  • Rhay: Our council agreed, and we got to work designing a machine that could replicate the dogun magic that pacified that Colossus long ago.
  • Rhay: We've had Ineos' help on that front. He and I have been working here in Kandon-Beda to ensure things are running smoothly. Which... evidently, they are not.
  • Rhay: ... We'll be fine! We're going to meet up with my husband at Corkus, and he'll know what to do. He always does.
    • [1] What are we going to do at Corkus?
      • Rhay: Our people there will be able to get us the parts we need to repair the device. This... this isn't the first it's exploded. I had hoped that this time we would have gotten it stable, but...
      • Rhay: But, hey! We have it under control. We're always able to repair it quickly enough to keep it running while the Colossus is active.
    • [2] Your husband?
      • Rhay: Oh! Yeah. He's the one responsible for the design and production of this device. He's got a talent for designing these sorts of things, without him... well, we'd be in a much worse situation than we are now.
      • Rhay: I'll be glad to see him again. It's been a while since I last had to travel to Corkus, and... Well, I'm confident he'll know what to do here. He always does.
  • Rhay: ... Right! Hey, it looks like we're almost there. We'll be able to get this all sorted out, and we'll be back to Kandon-Beda in no time.

Stage 4

» Find the contact in the factory at [-1529, 71, -3083]

  • Rhay: Alright, let's just head on in. My husband should be around here somewhere...

Maxie will then walk out of the factory.

  • Maxie: Rhay, love! You're back already? Our next routine maitenance isn't for another- Wait, <playername>? What are you doing here?
  • Rhay: I... You two know each other?
  • Maxie: Of course we do - they're the one who helped me with all the Factory stuff! How did you two meet?

Rhay will then turn to look at you.

  • Rhay: They just showed up at Kandon-Beda and agreed to help us with... - Why didn't you bring this up earlier?
    • [1] Must have slipped my mind.
      • Rhay: It must have...- right. Well, if anything that makes you even more qualified to help us out, I guess! I can't believe I didn't recognize you...?
      • Maxie: Okay, right, back to the question - what are you two doing here already? There's another few days or so until our next routine maitenance, isn't there?
    • [2] Wait, Maxie, you got married? Why wasn't I invited?
      • Maxie: I did send you an invite! I gave it to... you know, that that one captain who ferries people around! But then you didn't show up to the wedding, so I guess it didn't reach you...
      • Maxie: Look, you're a hard person to reach! You've been all over the world at this point, including Kandon-Beda of all places- speaking of, why are you two here?
    • Rhay: !!!
  • Rhay: Right! Right. Got a little distracted there... Uh, we've run into a problem back at Kandon-Beda. We experienced an undetected seismic event, and the device was heavily damaged.
  • Rhay: We should be able to finish most of the repairs with what materials we have there, but we're missing a Magmaflux Capacitor for the control panel.

Nodise will then walk up behind Maxie.

  • Maxie: ... Oh. That's going to be a problem. We haven't had an opportunity to make more parts yet - it hasn't been long enough since our last maitenance. So... I'm not sure what we-
  • Nodise: I overheard the conversation from over there- good to see you Rhay, by the way- But. We may not have any capacitors left up here, but I know where you can get one.
  • Nodise: We repurposed this factory for our needs, but it was built here to process resources from the mines below.
  • Nodise: Though it was discontinued, it's still very likely that there are still miner mechs down there- and some of the more powerful models made use of very similar circuits to the capacitors we use today.
  • Maxie: ... You're right! If they're still down there, we should be able to scrap one of the bots and reuse its circuits. <playername>, we can send you down into the mines to find what we need, while we prepare up here!
    • [1] Alright, I can do that.
      • Rhay: Alright... Good luck down there! Find the bot, destroy it, and bring the capacitor back up! Just step on the platform in the middle of the factory when you're ready.
    • [2] I need to prepare first.
      • Maxie: Okay. That's fine, just make it quick! You know we can't waste any time here.

Stage 5

» Retrieve the part from the cave at [-1529, 69, -3104]

  • [!] Central bore tunnel opening! Exercise extreme caution around the deep drop.

The door below you will open, sending you to the cave with the mechs. As you make your way through the cave, it will start to shake.

  • Mining Robots: INTRUDER DETECTED. HOSTILE ENGAGEMENT AUTHORISED.

The Mining Robots will then spawn, and you must kill 4 to proceed.

  • Mining Robots: DEPLOYING SECONDARY ANTI-INTRUDER MEASURES.

Another wave will spawn, requiring you to kill 8 more.

  • Mining Robots: DIVERTING ALL AVAILABLE UNITS TO HALT INTRUDER.

A final wave of 12 mining robots will spawn. Kill them all to get to the boss.

Magmaflux Capacitor
Central Bore Tunnel

The Mother Drill's fight is fairly simple, as it has a custom spell, Drill, which will teleport the Mother Drill to a certain spot in the arena. The spot is telegraphed by several dirt particles coming out of it. Once the boss is as 65,000 HP, it will call for backup.

  • The Mother Drill: DIVERTING MINER MECHS TO HALT INTRUDER.

You will then have to kill 12 of the mining mechs that were fought prior to the boss fight. Once all 12 have been killed, you can then go back to fighting the Mother Drill.

Stage 6

» Return to the hot air balloon at [-1526, 71, -3067] with the Magmaflux Capacitor.

  • Maxie: Good to see you again, <playername>. Good luck with the colossus. And Rhay... come home as soon as you can.

Stage 7

» Return to General Elix with the Corkian Stabiliser

  • Rhay: Well... that went better than expected, really. I still can't believe you didn't tell me you already knew Maxie.

Rhay will then walk to General Elix and Ineos.

  • Rhay: Oh, wow. It looks like they've managed to fix up the machine pretty well, all things considered. Just this part left to get it running again...
  • General Elix: Hmph. Rhay, there you are. Seeing as you've returned, I gather everything went smoothly at Corkus?
  • Rhay: Smoothly enough, General! We have what we need to repair the control panel. We'll be able to get the stabilizer running again!
  • General Elix: Well?! What are you waiting for? Finish the repairs, we can't afford to lose any time with this damned Colossus looming over us.
  • Rhay: Yes, sir! Alright. <playername>, just slot the capacitor in right... there. I'll make sure it runs smoothly.

Right-click the machine to insert to Magmaflux Capacitor.

  • [-1 Magmaflux Capacitor]

The machine will start up.

  • General Elix: There we are. Now, let's get this thing running again! Walder, keep an eye on stability! And... Rhay. You're confident this will work?
  • Rhay: I-I'm sure. This is our last chance. We have to hold out hope that the stabilizer will hold.

The ground will then shake.

  • Rhay: Alright, alright... It's now or never... Hold, stabilizer, hold!

The ground will keep on shaking as fire comes off of the stabilizer, before eventually exploding.

  • Rhay: ... Oh. That's... that's it, then. It's over. We failed.
  • Ineos: I... am sorry, Rhay. I had... hoped it would work. In truth... I do not have... a plan... either.
  • Ineos: The Elders... would have known... what to do... But they are... long gone. Nothing but... ruins remain.
    • [1] The Elders?
  • Ineos: The Elders... They were... the greatest... of doguns. As old... as the oldest stones... and wise... as the earth itself...
  • Ineos: They were capable... of magic... beyond what any... of us could achieve. They alone... could calm our... Protector.
    • [1] What happened to the Elders?
  • Ineos: They were... sealed away. Frozen in... the deepest... of ice. When the dwarves... slew Garaheth... the Elders... fell with him.
  • Ineos: Such atrocities... The war... My people... But it is not... to dwell on, now. There are... more important... things at hand.
    • [1] But the war is over. The dwarves and doguns have made peace.
  • Ineos: I... I did not... know of this. My people... are free? How long... has it been... since I have seen... my home?
  • Ineos: You... Adventurer. We must... speak to my people. Our chieftain... will know... how we may free... the Elders.
  • General Elix: If there is a chance... We have to take it. Ineos, <playername>, take the balloon. We'll do whatever we can here. Now, go! There's no time to waste!

Stage 8

» Meet Ineos and Rhay at the Hot Air Balloon at [770, 162, -4385].

Rhay and Ineos will be by the Hot Air Balloon. Once you get in, you will fly over Ahmsord before landing in the Dogun Settlement in the Molten Heights.

  • Ineos: I have never... seen the Heights... from above. I wonder... if their glow... holds the same strength... it does from below...
  • Ineos: I only hope... the Elders... are not gone... for good. We greatly need... their wisdom.
  • Ineos: Ah... I believe us... to be landing...

Stage 9

» Travel to Molten Heights with Ineos via the Hot Air Balloon at [770, 162, -4385]

Korzim and two other Doguns will appear alongside him.

  • Korzim: <playername>... Hello. What a... strange sight... to see you landing... at our village... in such a contraption...

Korzim turns to face Ineos.

  • Korzim: And... is that... Ineos? We thought... the dwarves... had turned you into rubble...
  • Ineos: I escaped... It is a long... story, Korzim. We do not... have time. Where is... your father?
  • Korzim: He is... below. They are... freeing the frozen... in New Taloka. Why do you... wish to speak... with him?
  • Ineos: The Protector... is angered. We must find... the Elders. They will know... how to calm it.
  • Korzim: The... Protector... I understand. I will... bring you two... to him. Sidio... Raetin... I leave you two... in charge.

The Dogun on the left has its name changed to Sidio, while the one on the right is changed to Raetin.

  • Korzim: Now, let us... travel. Through flame... and through stone...

Korzim will then create a portal that you can walk through to fast-travel to New Taloka.

Stage 10

» Speak to Rodoroc's King and the Dogun Chieftain at New Taloka at [1456, 16, -5151]

  • Korzim: We are... here. Taloka was... one of the first to fall... in the war. We have been... working with the dwarves... to restore it.

Korzim and Ineos will then walk to a group having King Draani, Chieftain Paku, a regular Dogun named Edac, and a Dwarven Technician trying to unfreeze a Dogun.

  • King Draani: Are we all ready?
    • Edac: Ready...
    • Dwarven Technician: Ready!
  • King Draani: Very well. Begin on three. One... Two... Three!
  • Dwarven Technician: Beginning reheating cycle! Stand back from the subject.

The Dwarven Technician will then run some machinery to unfreeze a Dogun.

  • Unsealed Dogun: ... Where... am... I? How long... has it... been...?

The Unsealed Dogun turns its attention towards the technician.

  • Unsealed Dogun: ...Dwarf... You... you froze me... I will... I will...!

Chieftain Paku and Edac run around to stop the Unsealed Dogun from attacking the technician.

  • Chieftain Paku: Calm yourself... Delg. Our war... has ended. We are... freed. You have been... freed.

The Unsealed Dogun's name changes to Delg.

  • Dogun Delg: ... Freedom? Hundreds... of years... of war... And we are... free?
  • Chieftain Paku: Yes. We are free... to roam our home... once more. Edac... Escort Delg... and help him re-adjust... to the heights.

Delg will then walk away with Edac.

  • King Draani: Ah, <playername>! It's good to see you again. We haven't seen you around here since... since the end of it.
  • Chieftain Paku: Yes. We have been... hard at work... these past weeks. Taloka will soon... stand once more. And many... of our sealed bretheren... have been returned to life.
  • King Draani: Ah, but we can talk more about that later. Tell me, what brings you here today? Is there something you need from us?
    • [1] The Canyon Colossus is tearing apart the canyon, and we need your help.

Ineos will then walk up to Draani.

  • Ineos: The situtation... is dire. The Great Protector... has been left alone... for far too long. We need... the wisdom... of our Elders. Do you know... where they are sealed?
  • King Draani: The Elders?! Yes, we know where they are sealed. However, retrieving them is no simple task. It would take us years to break past the defenses, and we have countless other doguns to release first.
    • Chieftain Paku: The Protector?!
  • Chieftain Paku: Ineos... I want our Elders free... as much as you do. But our Protector... has stood firm... for hundreds of years. It can stand... for another-

Another earthquake will happen, affecting all NPCs in the area.

  • Chieftain Paku: No... Has it truly... fallen this far..?
  • King Draani: ... That was your Protector? How powerful is it, if it can reach this far?
  • Korzim: If the Protector... could shake even the Heights... It could destroy... half of this province.
  • Chieftain Paku: Draani... the Elders must be freed. They alone... would know how to calm it.
  • King Draani: Yes... I understand. Very well. <playername>, I will take you to the Elders' vault. I hold the keys to open the way forward. Paku, gather your people. See if anyone has alternative solutions.
  • Chieftain Paku: We will... search for one. I cannot... promise that one exists.
  • King Draani: <playername>, let us go. It sounds as if we have very little time to waste.
  • King Draani: I will make preparations, and meet you at the Vault of Ice.

Stage 11

» Enter the Dogun Vault within the lower Freezing Heights at [1512, 34, -5468]

  • King Draani: ... Ahem. This is the entrance, then. One of our most closely guarded secrets... I was hoping not to have to confront this reminder for a while yet...
  • King Draani: But it seems we don't have much choice now. I have the keys, let's go inside.

Draani will then open the Vault of Ice.

Stage 12

» Unlock the Dogun Vault to find the Elders.

  • King Draani: Rather cold in here, isn't it? A vault carved into a drake's True Ice... I suppose my ancestors hoped to seal these doguns in here forever. I'll be glad to disappoint them.
  • King Draani: Quickly, then, let us proceed to the primary door. I pray the Elders will be responsive to our situation with the Colossus.

Draani will then walk towards the Dogun Elders' vault.

  • King Draani: In any case... Let me see if I can open this second gate. It should be as simple as...

Draani will attempt to use magic to open the vault, but it fails as the door is unresponsive.

  • King Draani: Hm. That... didn't work. This magic is old, and I have never took the time to learn it properly... Alright. We have alternatives.

Draani will then walk to a parkour course to the right of the door.

  • King Draani: If my memory serves correctly, there should be a manual override on the other side of this chasm.
  • King Draani: The issue is that treacherous pool of lava on the way... and I don't think my knees are up to the task of jumping over it all.
  • King Draani: I would usually never do this, but these are desperate times. Here, take my Trusty Grappling Hook. It should help you get over to the switch.
  • King Draani: It has limitations, though. It will only be able to latch onto those blue rocks on the walls - and I'll be taking it back once you're finished, thank you very much!

While on the parkour course, you will use the
Trusty Grappling Hook to latch onto the blue rocks, and arrows will point your way. Sometimes, some rocks will be under an overhang, and can only be grappled once you are under the rock. After the first checkpoint, your path will diverge, and you can grab onto a ladder or go underneath the orange platforms. The upper path has you perform some tricky maneuvers, such as jumping down and grappling onto a blue rock while falling, while the lower path will have easier maneuvers at the start, once you get to a section, jump to a platform, and then King Draani will say the following:

  • King Draani: Hey, <playername>! Looks like you're doing good so far, but if you get stuck remember you can jump and then grapple mid-air, that might help on some of those trickier platforms!

Following this, the maneuvers will be far more complex, being going under an overhang, and grappling onto a rock while in the air. Once you reach the end, there will be a machine and a button that will open the vault door.

  • King Draani: Looks like that unlocked it, <playername>! Get yourself back over here and I'll open the door.
  • You use the grappling hook to swing back to the King in a dazzling feat of trapeze consisting of mid-air flips and acrobatic flourishes.
  • King Draani: There we are! Excellent work. You used that hook like a true expert! Ah, reminds me of the time-...
  • King Draani: ...Ahem. Excellent work, indeed. With the override activated, I should be able to do the rest of the work to open the gate.
  • King Draani: First, though, I'll be having that grappling hook back! Think of what could happen if you had free reign of that all over.

Draani will take the Trusty Grappling Hook from you, and then walk to the vault door. A cutscene will play as it opens, and once it does, Draani will walk inside.

  • King Draani: And so... I believe we have gone as far as we can.
    • [1] What do you mean?
  • King Draani: This is True Ice, <playername>. It has scarred this part of the Heights for centuries, ever since it was created by an ice dragon in my ancestors' conquest.
  • King Draani: It cannot be melted or burned through any means. It is why this location was chosen for their tomb. I'm afraid there is nothing more we can do.
    • [1] When were the elders first imprisoned here?
      • King Draani: At the end of the war, I imagine.
      • King Draani: As the final dogun settlements fell, and as Garaheth was slain for the first time, my ancestors must have sealed them deep in this ice.
      • King Draani: The... actions of the Dwarves after winning the war are well documented. I would not be surprised if our accounts describe this imprisonment as a great victory.
    • [2] Who put them here?
      • King Draani: The Dwarves, of course. Who else?

      • King Draani: He was lauded as a hero, naturally. Now... we must reap the consequences of such a decision.

      • King Draani: True Ice is a material that cannot be melted or burned through by any means. Not even dogun magic has been able to make a dent.
      • King Draani: ... I imagine why this location was chosen to hold the elders. A prison from which they would never be able to escape.
      • King Draani: It is known for it to form naturally under extreme conditions... But the ice here is nowhere near natural.
      • King Draani: It was formed by an Ice Drake's Breath partway through the war- and, well, as you can see, it has remained here ever since.
      • King Draani: Just another remnant of our past mistakes, I suppose...
      • King Draani: Ahem. In any case- as I said, True Ice is impossible to break through, even with the most scorching flames.
        • [1] If an Ice Drake formed this ice... perhaps a fire dragon could melt it?
          • King Draani: I... I suppose that a dragon's breath might be able to melt it. That logic does make sense.
          • King Draani: We have little knowledge of what dragons were like, though. As they went extinct, that information became... useless. And so, it was lost.
          • King Draani: If anyone would know more about dragons, it would be the doguns.
          • King Draani: But none of that matters. All the dragons are gone, after all. We still have no options.
            • [1] What happened to all the dragons?
              • King Draani: Why, they died out. As Gavellian civilizations grew in size, the ferocity and size of a dragon was simply too much of a threat.
              • King Draani: Some were hunted. Some died of starvation. Eggs were taken from nests and shattered over boulders for the birds to feed on.
              • King Draani: Now all that are left are dragonlings - echoes of their once-great ancestors, with barely enough flames to singe your armor.
            • [2] Not all of the dragons are gone. I helped relocate one near Thanos.
              • King Draani: You- what? Near Thanos?
              • King Draani: A living dragon... You've done quite a lot, haven't you? Stopped a war, moved a dragon...
              • King Draani: Well... if there is a living dragon at Thanos... Then we still have hope! <playername>, we must ask for its help.
              • King Draani: Let us return to the others. I asked them to wait outside of Rodoroc... perhaps they'll be able to confirm that a dragon's breath would do the job.
            • [3] The Doguns would know about dragons?
              • King Draani: Indeed. The fire dragons that sided with them during the war. I'm sure you've come across the skeleton just outside Freezing Heights?
              • King Draani: Yes, well... the Dwarves needed a counter to the sheer power of a fire dragon in battle, and so they resorted to enslaving dragons and drakes of other elements.
              • King Draani: Like the Ice Drake that created this vault, and encased the Elders in the truest of ice.
            • [4] Read any good books recently?
              • King Draani: ... Well, there was this excellent novel of about one of those creatures from the Shiar, who had to travel to the Heights with this ring he had inherited-
              • King Draani: But I confess, these questions seem almost irrelevant. We have a more pressing issue at hand, <playername>.
        • [2] Could we shatter it somehow, with a weapon or spell?
          • King Draani: This ice is harder than obsidian itself. The crystals which form the material are bonded by ancient magic.
          • King Draani: Shattering it with such tools isn't an option. Perhaps there is a weapon that could break through, somewhere deep in our armory- after all, this vault had to be carved somehow...
          • King Draani: However, given the circumstances, I don't think we have the time to search for it. Even if we started now, our armory is enormous. It would take weeks to find what we need.
        • [3] Would lava from the Heights work?
          • King Draani: The lava of the Heights is nothing more than molten rock. Just a remnant of the shaping of these caverns.
          • King Draani: It's not nearly hot enough to melt True Ice. If it could, the Freezing Heights would have faded long ago.
        • [4] What's your favorite color?
          • King Draani: My... uhm... green is nice, I suppose? Though perhaps not very Dwarven...
          • King Draani: Red, then. Or orange! ...Although my bedsheets are the most wonderful shade of navy blue...
    • [4] What did you have for breakfast today?
      • King Draani: Breakfast... I had some eggs, I suppose. Though, I had no idea that breakfast would be my last, did I..?
      • King Draani: Hm... Had I known, maybe I would have chosen differently. Maybe I would have-... nevermind.

After you have told Draani a solution to the problem, he will then run towards the exit of the Vault.

Stage 13

» Regroup at outside Rodoroc at [1233, 9, -5200] to figure out how to free the Elders.

  • Ineos: If Ozoth is alive... we must seek her help. If the doguns ask... for her aid, she will... give it.
  • King Draani: Well, that's as good a plan as any. <playername>, you'll travel to seek this dragon's counsel, along with... Ineos, was it? Good luck.
  • Ineos: You should... take the Trading Tunnel... <playername>. I will put the coordinates... in your Quest Book.

  • You need to get to the path up to Ozoth's Spire. There should be signposts outside of Thanos...

Follow the arrow posts up to Ozoth's Spire, and when you reach the top, Ineos will be waiting for you.

  • Ineos: I... see. <playername>... Ozoth tells me... that an Everflame... will free the Elders.
    • [1] Where can we find one?
  • Ineos: ... well...
  • Ineos: The Endless Kindler... is willing to part... with hers. You must... retrieve it... from her stomach.
  • Ozoth: ...
  • Ineos: I would advise you... not to think... too much about this. When... you are ready... enter Ozoth's mouth and retrieve... the flame.

Ozoth's mouth will then open for you to enter her body.

Stage 16

» Descend into Ozoth's belly to retrieve an Everflame.

The first section of Ozoth's Stomach involves you having to grind 10
Muscle Tissues, which are dropped from Fiery Arteries and Starving Survivors. The Fiery Arteries can regenerate while the Starving Survivors don't.

After 10 Muscle Tissues are gathered, the next section is parkour to the Everflame. This parkour is fairly simple, and has no unique mechanics. Falling in the lava sends you back to the start.

At the end, you will find the Everflame. However, when you start to pick it up, several mobs will ambush you.

  • It looks like Ozoth's body is trying to prevent you from getting the Everflame!

  • Ineos: Now, <playername>... I was never the best... at the ancient magic... but I hope I have enough skill... to take us the short route back...

Ineos will then create a portal back to Rodoroc.

  • Ineos: She did... Ozoth has made a great sacrifice... for this province... but we have an Eternal Flame... to melt the ice.
  • Chieftain Paku: Well done... both of you. I will ensure... that the doguns thank her... properly. The dwarves would do well... to do the same.
  • King Draani: Yes, yes, but there's no time to worry about that now. Quick, let's get back to the-
  • Chieftain Paku: Be wary... of the Elders... Draani. It is unlikely they will react well... after their imprisonment. It is vital... you explain the situation... to them.
  • Chieftain Paku: I would join you... both... but the ice is inhospitable... to my kind. I wish the both of you... the best of luck.
  • King Draani: ...right. Yes. Well, there's no getting around it. Come, <playername>. We must unfreeze the elders and get them to listen to us. Bring the flame, I will meet you at the Vault.

Stage 18

» Return to the Dogun Vault at [1512, 34, -5468] to free the Dogun Elders.

  • King Draani: Just bring the Everflame to each of the cells, and melt through that True Ice.

Right-click on each of the Dogun Elders' cells to free them. A cutscene will play of them being freed.

The three elders walk towards Draani.

  • Elder Astal: Dwarf... Hm. The crimes... of your ancestors... must be repaid.
  • Elder Desint: However. We have... heard you speak. We have... learned of... the Protector's state.
  • Elder Iscor: We will... settle your debt... later. This situation... is a more pressing... concern. The Protector... must be calmed.
  • Elder Astal: ...Yes. You. Human. That was... dragonfire... was it not?
    • [1] It was.
  • Elder Astal: Then allow me... to borrow it. Its strength... will allow us... to restore ours. Now... Who now holds... the title... of Chieftain?
  • King Draani: A-ah! Paku is now the Dogun Chieftain. He would be at... At Taloka.
  • Elder Astal: Very well... We shall travel... through flame... and through stone...

The Dogun Elders will then use magic to warp you to Ineos and Chieftain Paku.

  • Elder Astal: Now, let us travel... (The following part of the line is High Gavellian) Through flame... and through stone...

The Elders will then teleport you and the crew to Korzim.

  • Korzim: Iscor... Astal... Desint... it has been... too long. I will come.

Korzim walks to the circle, before Astal warps everyone to Kandon-Beda.

  • Elder Astal: Earth and flame... fire and stone... transport us through your form! (In High Gavellian)

General Elix and Rhay turn to face you.

  • Elder Iscor: Join us... brave ones. You will see... that your efforts to save this Province... have not been in vain.

Rhay and General Elix will then join the circle, as Astal warps you a final time to the Canyon Colossus.

  • Elder Astal: Flames of the earth... take us to the Great Protector... to make our plea! (In High Gavellian)

» Travel to the Canyon Colossus at [611, 52, -4448] to attempt to calm it.

The Elders prepare to get ready for the ritual.

  • Elder Astal: Desint... Iscor... I will prepare... the ritual. Defend me... as I do so.

Astal will prepare the ritual as the other NPCs speak.

  • Elder Desint: Human. We will pull the Protector... away from the brink. That is all we can do now. All the power... we can muster.
  • Elder Iscor: You must enter... these sacred grounds. Battle through it to the end... Knock some sense... into it.
  • Ineos: Adventurer... We are counting...on you. We will try to...support you however we can.
  • Rhay: We'll do the best we can out here! I have some ideas already...
  • General Elix: Rhay, this isn't the time. Human. We have your back. You can do this.
  • Korzim: You have faced...worse odds before...have you not? You will face them...again.

The Elders take their places as the ritual begins.

  • Elder Astal: It is done. Desint... Iscor... Take your postions. We must... hold it back.
  • Elder Astal: Great Protector, lord of stone, hear our burning call. Your fury clouds your vision, your anger burns and twists our home. (In High Gavellian)
  • Elder Astal: We, the doguns, who now hold the final flame of a fallen god... We will hold you back. We will keep this land intact! (In High Gavellian)
  • Elder Astal: We will... hold it from here... human. Now... go! We will not... be able to hold it... for long...
  • Elder Astal: This crystal...will let you harness...our flame. Use it...to break through...its defenses.

Chieftain Paku will then walk up to you.

  • Chieftain Paku: <playername>... Before you go. I will offer you... these powerful relics. Our people... have held them for... longer than I have lived. They may... help you on your quest.
  • King Draani: I cannot give you something as unique as what Paku has offered, but I can still lend you a sum from our treasury. Use it as you must, so long as you can calm that thing. Good luck.

Epilogue Stage

You can use the
Ancient Dogun Crystal, which will make a cutscene happen, before making the following text appear. If you also do not want to complete all the quests required for this one, you can just use the Crystal on the raid gate to unlock it instantly.

Trivia

  • When you use the V.S.S. Seaskipper after completing this quest, the Seaskipper Captain will say that he tried to give you the invite, but he couldn't get it to you. However, you can still claim the Wedding Invitation.
    • Rhay and Maxie are also confirmed to be a gay couple. Maxie also had a posted in his house that said 'Just Married, 1000 AP', which showed Maxie and Rhay (who was unnamed at the time) kissing each other.
  • General Elix's name is an anagram of Lexi, one of the GMs who worked on this quest.
  • After completing the quest, you can return to New Taloka to find Ineos by himself, as well as Chieftain Paku and Elder Iscor. King Draani can also appear from time to time.
  • By Kandon-Beda, there is a stone outpost where Elder Astal and Rhay can be found.
    • Astal also reveals that the outpost was made by the doguns to oversee the Colossus.
  • At Garaheth's Portal, Elder Desint can be found.
  • Dogun Delg was originally a removed Non-Quest NPC that appeared in the Sky Islands. Noticeably, unlike the other Doguns, Delg spoke in full sentences without pausing, unlike his current speech patterns.
  • The Trusty Grappling Hook has item lore.
    • An ingenious dwarven contraption designed for the quick traversal of caves and rock, this hook is very clearly labelled with the King's name.
  • Inside Ozoth's Stomach during the parkour section, you can find some skeletons. Some notable ones include one that appears to be wearing the Morph Set, while another one appears to be a Siegfried actor.
