The Rune of Acceleration is a Rare Utility Trinket obtainable during the annual Festival of the Bonfire, which most recently ran from 11th August through 3rd September, 2023. It could be purchased from the Sunset Valley Trinket Merchant for 16
Sunlit Copper Coins, the reward currency from the Battle for the Bonfire minigame in the Valley.
When the Rune of Acceleration is used, it grants the Speed I effect for 3 minutes. Additionally, it provides bonus to Walk Speed that increase over the Rune's duration; it starts at a -20% penalty, and gradually increase to a maximum +60% boost by the end of the 3-minute duration. After these effects wear off, the Rune of Acceleration can be used again after a 2-minute cooldown.
Dialogue
During the festival, showing the Rune of Acceleration to the Bonfire Keeper in the center of Detlas unlocked hidden dialogue, shared with the Rune of Stamina:
- Bonfire Keeper: Strange stone runes... It looks as though there are some sort of words inscribed in them, though I'm afraid I can't make them out.
- Bonfire Keeper: You acquired these from Sunset Valley, yes? That place certainly does have an abundance of these kinds of relics.
- Bonfire Keeper: A touch strange, is it not? To think, a people would have all this knowledge,and then... Gone. Nothing but the bonfire remains.
