The Rune of the Winds is a Rare consumable item obtainable during the annual Festival of the Bonfire, which most recently ran from 11th August through 3rd September, 2023. They could be purchased from the Sunset Valley Trinket Merchant for 3
Sunlit Copper Coins each, the reward currency from the Battle for the Bonfire minigame in the Valley.
Runes of the Winds require combat level 60 to use. When consumed, a Rune grants the user the Speed II effect (boosting Walk Speed by +40%), and provides a boost of +90 ❋ Air Spell Damage for three minutes. Only one Rune can be active at a time, and another can be used once the effects wear off.
Dialogue
During the festival, showing a Rune of the Winds to the Bonfire Keeper in the center of Detlas unlocked hidden dialogue, shared with the Runes of the Mountains, Storms, Rainfall, and Sunrise:
- Bonfire Keeper: ...Oh! These look rather similar to the runes found within the Sunset Valley!
- Bonfire Keeper: They appear to have been created for some sort of combat scenario... Though, perhaps, not the sort found within the Sunset Valley itself.
- Bonfire Keeper: Interesting, no? It's proof there's more to those folk than at first glance... Or, perhaps, it's proof of something else.
- Bonfire Keeper: ...hm? Oh, did I say that out loud? Sorry, sorry. My mind has been... wandering, lately.
