Hunger of the Gerts Part II is a medium level 78 quest revolving in the Gylia Plains, more specifically around Lake Gylia.

After learning of the Gylia Watch's plan to starve out the Gerts, a new conflict seems to be on the horizon...

Stage 1

» Find out what happens in the Gerten camp at [-33, 34, -5502].

• Gert Chief: Gert! Gert! Prepare war we are!
• Gert Chief: Look me.
• Gert Chief: Today we attack. Today Gerts will take down bad men!
• Gert Chief: But first! We eat food.
• Gert Chief: Get axe ready after food. We take back our food!
• This is bad...
• You should warn the Gylia Guards.

Stage 2

» Head to the Gylia Watch at [-19, 36, -5425] to warn them about the attack.

• Cikal: You again?
• Cikal: This is a very... inconvenient timing for me, you see.
• Cikal: Gamenight is starting soon. State your issue fast, please.
• Cikal: The Gerts attacking us? HAH! Funny joke.
• Cikal: Those pea brains can't even count to three. I doubt they can take our mighty fine establishment down.
• Cikal: Now, if you excuse me. Gamenight is starting, I am needed.

Cikal will then walk to the basement while another Gylia Guard grabs your attention.

• Winie: Psst! Come here, traveler.

Stage 3

» Talk to the other Gylia watchman at [-14, 36, -5410].

• Winie: I want to start off by apologizing for Cikal's behavior.
• Winie: I recently started working here and I totally believe you about the attack.
• Winie: What's weird is that the other guards here don't even believe it's a possibility. It's like their brains have become all scrambled.
• Winie: I seem to be the only one with any sense left!
• Winie: When I brought up how wrong it was for us to steal their food rations, they just laughed at me like I was crazy.
• Winie: Can I ask you for a favor?
• Winie: I'll head to Cinfras to report this to the higher ups. If you can somehow find a way to evacuate the guards here.
• Winie: They may be ass hats but we can't just let them die here.
• Winie: I think you should start with the people in the courtyard.

Stage 4

» Find the Gyila guards out in the courtyard at [-33, 46, -5395].

Talk to either Alie or Colry.

• Alie: Huh?
• Alie: Right... You are that crazy adventurer Cikal talked about...
• Alie: If you don't have any meat you can "hand" into the watch, please leave.
• Alie: I promise we take good care of the food here.
• Maybe you can find a way to lure the two guards away using food?

• Colry: Ya what is it?
• Colry: Right... You are that crazy adventurer Cikal talked about...
• Colry: Well... I’d rather avoid awkward situations so... please leave before I have to throw you out.
• Colry: I appreciate it, boss.
• Colry: Only thing that could sway me is food, hahaha! We only eat meat around here!
• Maybe you can find a way to lure the two guards away using food?

Stage 5

» Search for food in the courtyard and create a trail leading out of the Gylia Watch.

East of the two guards is a food stand. There will be
Fruit,
Cake, and
Pieces of Meat there. Right-click the meat to get 5 Pieces of Meat, and place the meat onto the green circles on the ground to lure Alie and Colry out.

• You successfully lead the two guards out of the tower. Maybe you should go to the second floor next?

Stage 6

» Use the elevator in the Gylia Watch and find the guard at [-11, 73, -5412].

Talk to Bory overlooking the eastern end of the Gylia Watch.

• Bory: Yes?
• Bory: Oh, it's... you.
• Bory: What could you want?
  • [1] You need to leave right away!
    • Bory: Huh?
    • Bory: Why are you yelling at me?
    • Bory: And no shot I'm leaving today! We are having our daily game night tonight!
      • [1] Daily...?
        • Bory: Yes. Indeed. Meaning, I'm very busy.
        • Bory: Every day is a party here. But you. Are. Not. Invited!
        • That strategy did not work. Maybe you can retry?
      • [2] Your life is in danger.
        • Bory: We here at the Gylia Watch are ready to give up our lives!
        • Bory: Except on Saturdays!
        • Bory: Now, if you'll excuse me, I have business to attend to.
        • That strategy lead you nowhere. Maybe you can retry?
  • [2] What are you up to?
    • Bory: I'm just patrolling. Someone has to look at the mountains for signs of an ambush.
    • Bory: Well... even though I doubt Gerts can climb...
    • Bory: The details aren't that important. I am doing my job, anyway.
    • Bory: Was there anything else?
      • [1] Thank you for protecting us.
        • Bory: Oh...
        • Bory: You are very welcome.
        • Bory: I appreciate your comment!
        • Bory: So what's on your mind?
          • [1] I overheard the Gerts... They will be attacking.
            • Bory: It is our duty to protect the public from the Gerts!
            • Bory: If what you are saying is true, we need to stay here!
            • Bory: I don’t even think anyone would miss the Gerts they were to die, hah!
          • [2] Do you want to go have a snack?
            • Bory: I can never say no to a snack!
            • Bory: What are you thinking?
              • [1] Let's head outside the watch.
                • Bory: Ooh! It sounds like you've prepared a whole feast out there!
                • Bory: Alright, deal!
                • Bory: I'll head outside and wait for you.
                • You successfully got Bory out of the watch!
                • Maybe it's time to save the people in the basement.
      • [2] Yeah, Gerts definitely don't climb or fly.
        • Bory: I knew that!
        • That strategy did not work. Maybe you can retry?

Stage 7

» Head towards the basement in the tower at [-25, 35, -5416].

• It seems that they locked up the basement...

• Something happened outside!

Stage 8

» Go outside towards the sound at [-30, 36, -5422].

Right-click the dirt particles to reveal a tunnel.

• This must be a freshly dug tunnel...
• It seems the Gerts have gone on the offense.

Stage 9

» Continue through the tunnel.

The tunnel has three main sections. The first section has you running through the tunnel and defeating a miniboss.

Right-click the dirt to get to the next section, which is a short parkour course. After that, you get to the final section, which contains another miniboss.

Right-click the blockage to get through and exit the tunnel back at the Gerten Camp.

Stage 10

» Collapse the Gert tunnel by attacking the weak pillar.

• Maybe you can collapse the tunnel entrance?

Right-click on the pole to collapse the tunnel entrance.

• That should stop the Gerts.
• At least for now. Maybe it's time to check on the Gylia Watch again.

Stage 11

» Return to the Gylia Watch at [-19, 36, -5425] and check if everyone is safe.

• Winie: Hey!
• Winie: Good job on emptying the tower. I explained the situation to the Cinfras Military and they followed me here.
• Cinfras Military: Good thing you came to us. There is something wrong with this place because I swear... everyone seems to go coockoo.
• Cinfras Military: Either way. Due to the workers breaking the treaty we have no choice but to charge them for their crimes and fire them on the spot.
• Winie: Us three have been put in place as a replacement until further notice.
• Winie: We will also return the stolen food to the Gerts, and hopefully calm them down.
• Winie: Your job is finished here, Wynnian. Thank you on behalf of Cinfras.

Trivia

• The reasons for the Gylia Guard's weird behavior is explained in the Secret Discovery, Mark of the Meteors.
• This quest was completely reworked in the 2.0 update. To see the current version, see The Hunger of Gerts Part 2.
  • The quest was originally about the Gerts hearing about a so-called Battery Farm and wanting to stop it. However, along the way, the player learned that the Battery Farm, ran by Big Butch, actually used Gerts to make the meat from the farm. The player stops the farm and goes back to the Gerts who provide the same reward.
