The Bane of the Great Bridge is a World Boss encountered when first crossing the location he inhabits. He can be encountered afterward in the World Event called A Burning Memory or by interacting with a sooty corpse below the Great Bridge for an unscaled fight.

Combat

The Bane's fight is started once as he destroys the end of the bridge leading to the Troms Jungle, followed by the camera cutting to him as he slams into the ground as his title appears, blocking the end leading to the Nesaak Tundra.

The Bane's main attack is uppercutting the player if they get to close to him, followed by slamming them into the ground if they are within range. The Bane can also use any of these other spells in his arsenal in any combination:

  • Ancient Wildfire: Used whenever, the Bane will crouch as particles surround him that cause a spell circle to appear as several flames rush from the circle, damaging and pulling the player towards him if caught.
  • Infernal Cross: Used whenever, the Bane will pseudo-lunge towards the player as a cross will be covered in smoke before combusting into flames that damage and launch the player up into the air.
  • Blazing Charge: Used when the Bane's HP is below 75% (60,750), the Bane will strike flames around him as he rushes towards the player like a bull, changing directions every few seconds.
  • Charring Lasso: Used when the Bane's HP is below 65% (52,650), the Bane will circle a lasso above him before using it to pull the player towards him.
  • Immolating Tunnel: Used when the Bane's HP is below 55% (44,550), the Bane will rise into the air as fire particles surround him before he rushes towards the player, causing a massive explosion where he lands.

Lore

Prior to becoming corrupted, the Bane of the Great Bridge was Rickeo, a member of the Twain family led by Marius that possessed powerful magic in contrast to most other Humans, with Rickeo's specialty in particular being pyromancy.[1] After Marius passed away, Rickeo would later become estranged with the rest of his family after a brawl with his brother Theorick at his adoptive father's funeral.[2] Sometime after the funeral, Rickeo would be the caught up in a battle, which made him burn through his life force in order to stop an oncoming army of the corrupt, saving the people of the Troms Jungle.[3]

It would be sometime after Rickeo's passing in which he would be reanimated by the Corruption, possessing the same abilities he had in life. The force of Corruption would utilize the powerful asset that is Rickeo, now known as the Bane of the Great Bridge.[4] The Bane would constantly be reanimated over and over again,[5] being a never-ending scourge on one of the most popular routes in the Wynn Province.[6]

Trivia

  • The Bane of the Great Bridge uses the Ancient Wynnic symbol for F often throughout his fight. Such instances include:
    • The spell circle for Ancient Wildfire.
    • The area the player is slammed into the ground.

And like many others, this included gifted individuals. Marius took in any orphaned children with gifts. Gifts for magical prowess, particularly those with elemental magic. All the children he adopted took on his name, Twain and lived with him in his formidable manor hidden from the prying eyes of the portal.
