Lieutenant Van is a lieutenant of the Detlas army that was tasked with retaking the Raging Tower, which had fallen to the corrupteds. In the quest Taking the Tower, his army, Aledar, and the player all work together to raid the tower.

Dialogue
Before doing Taking the Tower
- Lieutenant Van: Hello, soldier. You're one of the new folks, aren't you? Heard some talk about you.
- Lieutenant Van: We're preparing an assault on a nearby corrupted tower. For your own safety, I'd ask you to stay clear of it. The corrupteds in that area are dangerous.
After doing Taking the Tower
- Lieutenant Van: We'll take care of the remaining stragglers, don't you worry. Thank you for your work today, soldier.
Trivia
- Prior to the Lootrun Update, Lietenant Van was instead the much-lower ranked Vagrant Van. His tower was taken over by the corrupted, and requests the player to retake it for him. He also had different dialogue:
- Vagrant Van: Oh, a Ragni soldier. It's been awhile since I've seen one of you out here.
- Vagrant Van: The name is Van, but they call me Vagrant Van since I lost my tower to the corruption.
- Vagrant Van: The corruption took over my guard tower out in the plains north-west of here, just past the buildings behind me.
- Vagrant Van: It's the last tower not ruined by the war, but it cannot fall into the grasp of the corruption. Do you think you could kick some corrupted butt for me?
