King's Recruit (1.17) was a long level 1 quest that was the tutorial to Wynncraft until it was replaced with its current version.
Preview
The player is recruited into the army of Wynn.
Stage 1
» Talk to the Caravan Driver.
- You can cast a spell by using different mouse click combinations while holding your weapon! Try this one: Right-Left-Right/Left-Right-Left
- Caravan Driver: Finally, you're awake! Everyone already went on ahead.
- Caravan Driver: This is as far as we go, right to the border.
- Caravan Driver: The King is waiting for you in Ragni. That gate marks the entrance to the Wynn Province, so the castle can't be too far from here.
- Caravan Driver: I heard it's a dangerous road to the castle, but fortunately you're armed.
- Caravan Driver: Sorry we couldn't take you all the way, here is a partial refund for your journey. Use it to buy yourself some armour.
The Caravan Driver will give you 3
Emeralds.

Stage 2
» Head on the path towards the castle.
As the player walks along the path, they will encounter several NPCs and mobs.

- Lumberjack: You're one of the new recruits from Fruma, right? You're probably heading to Ragni then.
- Lumberjack: The castle is right along this path, follow it to the east and you'll get there in no time.
- Adventurer: Ah, another recruit. You're a bit behind, friend.
- Adventurer: Everyone already went on ahead. Just follow the path up to the bridge and you'll catch up.
Further along the path, there will be an adventurer warning the player of an angry villager.
- Adventurer: Be careful, there's a crazy villager who lives in this cave. He attacks anyone who goes near him!
Within the cave is a Cave Dweller, who is guaranteed to drop Chipped Leather Boots when defeated, though they are not immediately usable as they require Lv. 3 to wear them.

Eventually a broken bridge will be reached with an Adventurer next to it.
- Adventurer: The bridge was destroyed by some horrible creatures! Now there's no way to get across!
- Adventurer: That old tree to the north looks like it's going to fall over any second. Maybe you could give it a little push.
Push the button on the tree's stump to knock it over, allowing the player to cross to the other side. At the other side will be a guard named Honynn guarding the entrance to the Ragni Underpass.
- Honynn: Halt! This cave is full of monsters! I won't let you through unless you have a helmet. You can buy one from the merchant over there.
An Adventurer is next to an Armour Merchant.
- Adventurer: Man. I want to buy a helmet but I don't have any emeralds! I'll have to go and kill some animals to get some.
A Plain Leather Cap can be purchased from the merchant for 5
Emeralds. When the player enters the Underpass, several Undead Miners will attack them as they progress throughout the area.

Eventually, a Soldier will be reached who asks the player to free them.
- Soldier: Help me, I'm trapped in here! If you free me, I'll help you fend off the undead.
Stepping on the pressure plate will free the Soldier.

Shortly after the Soldier are some Zombified Warriors. Attempting to enter where the warriors came from will bring up the following dialogue:
- The putrid smell coming out of this hole does not make you want to explore it.

Shortly after the ambush, several Ragni soldiers will help the player get to the castle.

Stage 4
» Talk to the King.
- Ragni's King: You must be the last recruit! Finally nice to meet you. What did you say your name was?
- Ragni's King: What a peculiar name. Anyway, welcome to the province of Wynn!
- Ragni's King: This is the noble fort of Ragni, one of the oldest and most influential cities in the province!
- Ragni's King: Your job as a soldier of Wynn is to stop the growth of monsters that are raging the province.
- Ragni's King: You might want to train a little before hand, though. Many lives are lost everyday...
- Ragni's King: ... Anyway, good luck! If you are lost, use [map.wynncraft.com] as it is very useful if you don't know where to go.
- Ragni's King: Take this [1 Ragni Teleportation Scroll] too! It will bring you back here if you use it.
Trivia
- This is the second iteration of this quest. To see the first iteration, see King's Recruit (1.13). To see the third and current iteration, see King's Recruit.
- In various shelters found across the outskirts, some Ragni Outskirts Residents can be found within them.
- North of the entrance of the underpass is a Lonely Dog. The Lonely Dog will follow and help the player defend themselves.
