Between Realms of physicality and influence lies the vast nothingness of the void. Some islands have broken from the land and drifts in this space, seeking purpose.

~ Space Between Realities
|
|
The Void is a vast, limitless, dark region between Realms.[1][2] The primary place it can naturally be entered from the Overworld is below the shattered Sky Islands, in Gavel. The Void is first introduced during the quest One Thousand Meters Under, at level 95; however, it can also return briefly in Recipe For Disaster depending on what ingredients you choose. Other than the Sky Islands, there are also connections to the Void in some other locations, like the Silent Expanse near the Portal to Dern and through certain Void Holes.
In its natural state, The Void is absolute, lawless nothingness, and for the most part, there is still nothing in it. There are a few instances of physical matter encroaching upon the Void as seen beneath the Sky Islands, which has been mutated by The Void's ungovernable forces. The creatures in the Void are dark and hostile monsters; any living things from the surface world that linger too long in the area are eventually warped by it. The strange and reality-defiant properties of this place, however, also create many kinds of unique and valuable resources.
After completing One Thousand Meters Under, the area beneath the Sky Islands can be accessed again by using the elevators in Ahmsord. Navigating the area generally involves parkouring across precarious bridges of broken rocks, or otherwise by using Void Teleporters or other mechanisms which can move you through the area and between islands. Falling off the islands and into the Void will teleport you to a nearby safe location, though if any items are dropped into the Void, they will become irretrievable.
Beneath Ahmsord, you can see parts of a Colossus, although it is unlike that of the one in the Canyon of the Lost. The reason why this is seen is explained more in the Ultimate Discovery of the Sky Islands, The Fallen Protector.
Points of interest
Towns
- Void Village - The people of this forgotten, fallen village have been living here ever since the Sky Islands shattered, immortal. They use the Void crystals as energy sources, and eat whatever falls off from Ahmsord. The village contains the Void Merchant.

Exploring the Void
The main area unlocked and visited during One Thousand Meters Under is split into a northern and a southern half. The northern half is a fairly linear chain, leading from the crashed Void submarine in the northwest, through the Void Village and the surrounding area, and finally to an elevator that can bring you back up to Ahmsord.
The southern half of the area can only be accessed after completing the quest. Using the elevators in Ahmsord will bring you to a small island in between the Void Village and the southern area, which consists of a larger, more complex field of interconnected islands. In addition to several Loot Chests and high-level mobs, this region contains several points of interest: firstly, it is the only location where Voidstone can be mined, at Mining level 100. The safest, and most lucrative, of these Voidstone mines is the one found on the large far-western island, which contains no mobs and 15 nodes of Voidstone ore. However, it is a very long way from the nearest Bank and Crafting Stations, in Ahmsord.
Additionally, the southernmost island of the area is the lair of the Void Spirula, the only natural source of the rare Black Hole Crafting Ingredient.
Other Areas
If you choose to cook Brie's Hearty Zork Stew Recipe during Recipe For Disaster, you will have to travel to a small island separated from the main island chain, using an elevator at the southern edge of the Sky Islands operated by a Villager named Crank. Although this island is shrouded in fog, limiting visibility, it is rather small and completely safe. The only notably feature is the Voidroot plant you are looking for.
In the Silent Expanse, A Journey Further, Otherworldly Occurrence, Space Between Realities, The Archipelago, and the Path to Darkness all involve connections to the Void as well.

Trivia
- The area accessible beneath Ahmsord having the titled of "Void" is rather misleading, as the area you get to see is only the remains of the earth that felt out of reality from the Ahms Colossus' destruction, straddling physicality and nothingness. Though not truly in the Void, the effects of it can be well documented in all that is in the area.
- This disparity is the cause of the area and dialogue surrounding it being relatively outdated.
- The Void in The Nameless Anomaly is depicted as an opiate ocean that the Archipelago rests on. This gray 'sea' can be seen in A Journey Further and the Space Between Realities discovery.
