Mining is one of the four Gathering Professions. Mining involves mining various ores throughout the world with a Pickaxe to acquire Crafting Materials in the form of Ingots or Gems.
Usage
Main Resources
Ingots are used in the Weaponsmithing, Armouring, and Tailoring Professions to craft Weapons and Armour. Gems are used in the Jeweling Profession to craft Accessories.
As of the Version 1.20 update, ingots and gems can also be used to purchase blocks at a Block Merchant to use at one's Housing plot.
Other Resources
The 2.0.3 update has added a new resource called Larbonic Geode that can be found throughout the Toxic Wastes in the Silent Expanse. Larbonic Geodes give Foul Larbonic Shells which can be refined by the Cancereater for several ingredients.
Overview
Successfully gathering ores gives the player XP in their Mining profession. As the player levels up their Mining profession, their gathering speed and refining success rate increase. At certain milestones, the player also unlocks new Gathering Tools and ores to gather.
When a material is first unlocked, there is a 70% chance of successfully refining it when gathered. As you level up, this chance increases by 2% each level until the success chance reaches 90% ten levels above the level you originally unlocked the material at. Having multiple usable Gathering Pickaxes in your inventory when gathering will reduce the success chance significantly.
When you successfully gather and refine a material, there is a 89% chance to get a tier 1 ([✫✫✫]) material, a 10% chance to get a tier 2 ([✫✫✫]) material, and a 1% chance to get a tier 3 ([✫✫✫]) material.
Gathering Tool
Pickaxes are the tools used in the Mining profession. Like all other Gathering Tools, Pickaxes have durability that decreases as the player uses the tool. Every two ores gathered decreases durability by 1. When the tool reaches zero durability, the refining chance becomes 0%. However, XP is still awarded when you gather but fail to refine. Pickaxes can be repaired at a Blacksmith using Repair Scrap.
