Mushroom Man is a medium level 6 quest taking place mostly in the Nivla Woods. It also serves as a sequel to Infested Plants.

Preview

Tasim notices a strange villager in Alekin that looks like he needs help. The man, named Yahya, had his favorite mushroom patch ravaged by the spiders of the Nivla Woods and needs help clearing it out. However, the spiders prove to be more of a threat than anticipated.

Stage 1

» Talk to Tasim in Alekin Village at [-158, 73, -1621].

• Tasim: <playername>, hello! This place is really nice, isn't it? I'd like to stay a while longer before moving on towards Detlas, but I'll be ready soon.
• Tasim: In the meantime, I've been thinking about what we could do to help this place... I've maybe got something.
• Tasim: Take a look at that villager over there. He's acting a little off, like he's got something going on. I wonder...
• Tasim: Alright, I've decided. I'm feeling a little restless, so let's go over there and see if there's anything we can help with!
• Tasim: Maybe we can leave this place better off than it was when we got here!

Stage 2

» Speak to the strange man at [-175, 74, -1633].

• Yahya: G-... Hi! H-how can I help you on this... this p-perfectly fine and n-n-normal day!
• Tasim: Sorry to interrupt- we're soldiers traveling through this town, and you looked like the sort of person who might need the kind of help soldiers can provide. Anything we can help with?
• Yahya: O-oh! No, t-there's nothing going on. Not a th-thing. My m-m-mushroms are... they're fine. Why are you a-asking? Ev-... everything is g-great. W-Why wouldn't it b-be?
• Yahya: ...O-okay, fine, y-you caught me! My mushrooms... my m-mushrooms aren't fine! T-they're bad, even! A-are you hap-... happy now?
• Tasim: Ehm- no, but that's why we're here! Is there anything we can do to help your... uh. Your mushrooms?
• Yahya: Hm. One soldier, two s-soldier... Y-you look weak. I've s-seen str-... stronger. B-But- eheh, the- the s-stronger soldiers are... not here. Y-you'll be good enough. Maybe.
• Yahya: I- my favorite mushroom spot. I c-can't use it any-... anymore. Spiders. L-lots of spiders. They've t-t-taken over it... I can't get... mushrooms. Can y-you kill the s-s-spiders? Mushrooms.
• Tasim: We can kill spiders! Right, <playername>? Come on, this is what we're here to do! We became soldiers to help the people of Wynn, didn't we? We'll help you get your mushrooms back sir.
• Yahya: H-hm. Good. I can't m-make soup without... mushrooms. F-follow me, I'll take you to the-... the spiders. B-bad spiders.

Stage 3

» Follow Yahya to his infested mushroom patch at [-208, 76, -1694].

• Yahya: H-here we are. I- I can f-feel the m-m-mushrooms... from here. And the s-spiders! No-... no good.
• Yahya: S-so! Mushrooms. Those-... those bad c-creepy c-crawly s-s-spiders... Kill them. P-please?
• Tasim: We wouldn't have come here if we weren't planning to. Alright, <playername>, let's clear out some spiders!

» Clear out the spiders from Yahya's favorite mushroom patch at [-192, 76, -1709].

• Tasim: Looks cleared to me. These are... uh... some fine mushrooms!
• Yahya: Th-thank you soldiers! Th-that was-... I mean. I-it was f-fine, I g-... guess.
• Yahya: ...O-oh. Do I n-need to pay you... now? Heh. Is- is [2 Emeralds] fine with y-you..?
• Tasim: ...Come on.
• Yahya: Oho okay, ok-... okay! It was a joke, don't get all ex-... ex-... excited. Here, just take-

Spiders will then ambush Yahya.

• Yahya: G-gah! C-creepy! C-c-crawly! S-s-s-spiders!!!

The spiders will then carry Yahya away.

• Tasim: Yahya! No!
• Tasim: ...
• Tasim: I-... This is bad. This is really bad. We need to tell the Mayor, now.

Stage 5

» Return to Mayor Alvin at [-181, 71, -1615] with news about the spiders.

• Mayor Alvin: Ah, hello travelers. You seem to be in a rush- has something happened?
• Tasim: Yes! Yes, something- something has happened. We went with Yahya to help him with a problem he was having with spiders-
• Mayor Alvin: Yes, yes, I know of Yahya's antics... He doesn't seem to be with you. Has he ran off on you, just as Ope did?
• Tasim: No- no. When we finished clearing out the spiders, we were swarmed- and they took him!
• Mayor Alvin: ...Oh. Oh, dear. That isn't good at all. If they're making moves such as this, unprovoked...
• Mayor Alvin: You two are soldiers, yes? I would ask you to continue your travels to Detlas. Find an Admiral Aegis- tell him our little village needs aid.
• Tasim: I-... of course. We'll set out immediately. Come on, <playername>.

Stage 6

» Travel to Detlas to request the help of their military at [513, 68, -1629].

If it is your first time traveling to Detlas, a World Encounter will happen within this quest that Tasim will react to. A Corrupted Goliath will appear on the right pile of rocks before jumping down and confronting both Tasim and the player.

• Tasim: Wait. Did you hear that?
• Tasim: Gah! <playername>, look out!
• Tasim: Another one of these? We've fought one of them before, we can do it again!

Throughout this fight, Tasim will aid the player.

• Tasim: Phew. I think that went about as well as it could have!
• Tasim: We're both in one piece, the corrupted is dead... Good. That's good!
• Tasim: Let's keep moving towards Detlas. I don't think it's too much further, if we keep heading east from here.

If the player doesn't kill the Corrupted Goliath, the following dialogue occurs when the player reaches the western gate at Detlas.

• Tasim: Wait up!
• Tasim: Why'd you just leave me there? If we couldn't fight that thing off together, what made you think I could do it alone?
• Tasim: I managed to get away, but... still. What if I couldn't? Would you have just left me for dead?
• Tasim: ...Whatever. I'm alive, you're alive... that's probably good enough. Let's go find Admiral Aegis

When at Detlas, head to the Barracks to meet up with Admiral Aegis and a friend from before.

• Aledar: ...and that's how we managed to defeat that undead swarm, sir!
• Admiral Aegis: That's good to hear. Thank you for your work, Aledar. I'll speak to Lieutenant Van and see if he'd be willing to take you into his squad.
• Aledar: Thank you for the opportunity, sir. I won't let you down-... Wait, is that- Tasim and <playername>?
• Tasim: Aledar! We've finally made it to Detlas. We've had... something of an adventure, getting here.
• Admiral Aegis: Ah, you two must be the recruits Aledar has been telling us all about. It's good to finally meet you, though I can't help but notice you seem to have arrived in a rush.
• Tasim: Right! Right. We've arrived from Nivla Town, with bad news and a request for aid. The spiders of the forest have grown hostile, and threaten the town.
• Tasim: One of their townsfolk was captured and taken away in front of our eyes. Mayor Alvin sent us here to request the aid of Detlas' army.
• Admiral Aegis: Bad news, indeed. Very well, we will make preparations. For the time being, the two of you should rest and hone your skills. Captain Ragon here in the barracks would gladly offer some training.
• Tasim: Thank you, sir. But is there anything we could do to actually help?
• Admiral Aegis: Enthusiastic, aren't you! Let me think... I believe Captain Fenor out by the west gate was looking for aid. If you're willing, I'd suggest you speak with him.
• Aledar: And Lieutenant Van is planning a raid on a corrupt stronghold! I'm sure he'd be glad to have more forces with them.
• Admiral Aegis: Yes, yes. Well, I must be off. If the threat of Nivla's spiders is growing... we must prepare accordingly. I hope to hear of your future endeavors, all three of you.

Trivia

• This quest was revamped in the 2.0.3 Update. For the legacy version, see Mushroom Man (2.0.2).
  • The first version of this quest had Yahya ask the player to bring him 3
    Red Mushrooms, 1
    Brown Mushroom, and 1
    Bowl.
  • This quest was updated in the 1.18 Economy Update which encouraged the player to farm them from nearby logs, and the items requested were in the order of 1
    Red Mushroom and 1
    Brown Mushroom, 3 Red and Brown Mushrooms, and 1
    Bowl.
  • This quest received another minor update in the 1.20.2 Update which changed the start of the quest to be in Detlas and had its first stage being Yahya giving the player his mushroom stew, which results in the player blacking out and going to Yahya's house.
  • This quest was entirely revamped in the 2.0.3 Lootrun Update to now have Tasim, involving this quest in the spider questline, and introduce the player to Detlas, entirely getting rid of fetching mushrooms for Yahya.
  • This quest was tweaked in a 2.1 Rekindled World hotfix to add Tasim's reaction to a Corrupted Goliath encounter.
