This page is a spoiler for the Spooky Detlas Mystery. Readers are advised to go to another page if they don't want the mystery spoiled for themselves.

The mystery is focused around the Deceptive Rat, and involves following numerous clues throughout Spooky Detlas and The Beyond. Completing the mystery requires the Gravedigger's Spade, obtained from the Guiding of the Spirits activity, as well as the
Well of Power, purchased from the Trinket Merchant in the Beyond for three
Spiritual Shards.

Part 1: Opening the Library

After entering the library, interact with one of the five books to begin a branch of the mystery. At the end of each branch, you will need to feed another piece of cheese to the Deceptive Rat; after completing all five, the mystery will be completed. You will need to interact with the rat statue again while holding the Unusual Gemstone in order to reenter the library after completing each branch.

The Dusty Note is an untradable item obtainable during the annual Festival of the Spirits, which most recently ran from 13th October through 5th November, 2023. It was obtained by talking to the Giant Rat found underneath Spooky Detlas after giving it a piece of Cheese. On it is a riddle.

The riddle's answer is found at 500, 71, -1608, which turns the Dusty Note into the Eerie Note.

The Unusual Gemstone is an untradable item obtainable during the annual Festival of the Spirits, which most recently ran from 13th October through 5th November, 2023. It was obtained by using the Eerie Note on a small gemstone found in The Beyond.

When using this gemstone on a rat statue in the most northwest corner of Detlas, a small underground area will open with several books. All of the books' messages are found here: Seeking some feed, a friend pursued a likely location. Only to find a plethora of spirits and old provisions. Little did it know of the tragedy that lies ahead... In the Rusty Recruit bar at 429, 68, -1526, there will be a piece of cheese. Right-clicking it will summon a rat that will escape to the spot at 418, 67, -1530, dropping a Faint Recollection. Faint Recollection Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. The Faint Recollection has the following lore: ᓭᒷᒷꖌ╎ng what ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ∷ᔑℸ ̣ sought, it saw flasꖌᓭ 𝙹⎓ ᓵ∷╎ᒲᓭ𝙹リ, ʖut knew its ambiℸ ̣ ╎𝙹リᓭ ꖎᒷᔑ↸ ᒷꖎᓭᒷ∴here. The answer to this step is found in the Potion Merchant's shop, by right-clicking the cheese found at 451, 68, -1592. A rat will then escape and drop a Despairing Memory. The rat will then keep on running until it falls off of Detlas' walls. A spot with dirt particles will appear at 393, 67, -1533. Right-clicking the spot with the Gravedigger's Spade will give you Stale Cheese. In a nook at 451, 75, -1617, there will be a piece of cheese. Right-clicking it will result in the information being converted into Pale Cheese. Pale Cheese Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ It looks as dull as a ghost, could it be enough to satisfy someone's hunger? „ Within its grasp lies the way to buried treasure. Unknown to all is what lies underneath. The first step to the riddle is on top of a large skeletal hand in the southeast corner of Spooky Detlas at 518, 75, -1543. Right-clicking the paper will give you a Stained Chart. Stained Chart Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. The lore of the chart is as follows: For those who pursue the mysteries that lie below, seek not the skeletal grasp, for this is no mask of tricks to show. Perhaps to understand this the clearest, see what lies above the hanging light which is nearest. Could the obscured bone lead others forward, or make their motivation lowered? But from there, a view is to be taken in. What shines with greed is what you need. To the west? To the north? Which direction lies the flag of the conqueror, low down on the ground, you may need to go forth. The direction not used is where you must walk, until you reach a block. Seek the symbol of the plate, answers are near so let your wandering wait. At last, the plant unlike the other sits near, your shovel best be digging here. The answer to this riddle is at 478, 67, -1604, which requires the Gravedigger's Spade to dig up Rotting Cheese. Rotting Cheese Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ This is too disgusting to even touch. Would anyone really eat this? „ The Envoy's journey started and ended on these wheels. Those who seek something will only make it part of their journey. The answer to the first step of this riddle is in the cart the Envoy was in for the 2021 Festival of the Spirits. In his cart at 454, 70, -1561 is a Forgotten Note. Right-click it to get the next step. Forgotten Note Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ For the entire festival he's been watching us as if we're ants, perhaps during his time he's seen something we haven't... „ The answer to this riddle is found in the Private Pilot's airship high above Spooky Detlas. The next step is found at 459, 142, -1568, and upon right-clicking the note, it will turn into the Weatherworn Note. Weatherworn Note Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ Yesterday, I noticed something about that fellow right across from the craft that travels to a place beyond. He was acting quite peculiar, almost as if he was hiding something... „ The solution to this riddle is found near Calo's airship in a crevice at 405, 83, -1512. In the crevice will be the Dubious Cheese. Dubious Cheese Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ This cheese is too gross to look at. Though emitting an odd smell, eating it wouldn't harm anyone... probably. „ Tangled within the weeds to its trap is where the step to its hiding spot remains. The spot mentioned by the first riddle is found underneath the Trapper Crescent in the southeast quadrant of Spooky Detlas. Right-clicking the paper at 512, 67, -1568 will give an Overgrown Note. Overgrown Note Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ As it feels pain, the corruption and power within it gains. „ The answer to this riddle is found near the Spooky Detlas Barracks. Upon right-clicking the note at 498, 67, -1632, the Overgrown Note will transform into the Tainted Note. Tainted Note Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ Amongst the shade, the creature steps without drawing attention. „ The answer to this problem is found near a Shadestepper Scimitar at 440, 68, -1539. The Overgrown Note will turn into the Shadowed Note. Shadowed Note Type Untradable Obtain Festival of the Spirits Usage Used to progress in the Spooky Detlas mystery. “ The stars shine bright from where it rifted itself from a valuable possession. „ The answer to this riddle is found near the Midnight Kasa and Riftwalker Staff. There will be a crevice with some cheese at 444, 67, -1573, and the Shadowed Note will be converted into the Unappetizing Cheese.
