A hot-air balloon used to access a player's house. This one sits near the center of
Detlas.
Housing is a feature introduced in Version 1.20 which allows players to create, customize, and decorate individual plots of land. Crafting Materials can be traded with the Block Merchant for a wide assortment of themed blocks, and Emeralds can be traded for place-able NPCs such as a Blacksmith or Crafting Station.
Overview
A player's housing plots can be accessed by a hot-air balloon found in any of the major cities - though a select few are found elsewhere, such as The Void and Llevigar’s entrance, pictured to the right. Clicking on the basket gives the player three choices:
- "Go to your house" (a player head that looks like a house), which will instantly teleport the player to one of their houses.
- "Join another player's house" (a compass), which details a list of houses available to visit.
- "Move your house here" (a grass block), which lets the player change the city below their house for 4 Emerald Blocks (256 Emeralds). Note that a player's house can be accessed from any city, and this option only changes what city appears below the floating island and what songs may be played on the island by default.
- A player's house is saved across all classes.
Building
The player is given a 80 x 80 block circular island on which to build. The entire island is able to be built on, including to a depth of 6 blocks below the surface of the island.
Building Tools
While in Housing Edit mode, the player has access to portable versions of the Block Bank and the Block Merchant, as well as a Builder's Toolbelt; this can be shift-right-clicked to swap between four different tools with advanced functionalities:
- Region Tool: While held, allows you to visualize, create, and change regions. Regions allow specific rules to be defined for a selected area.
- Liquid Wand: Allows you to place and remove liquids. Removed liquids will not be returned to your Liquid Storage.
- Replication Tool: Allows easy replication of block patterns in multiple directions. While held, looking at a block will highlight nearby blocks following the same pattern. Requires HERO Rank or higher.
- Blueprint Tool: Allows copying and pasting of complex structures. While held, select two points to create a selection, then use the controls to move and paste the selection elsewhere. Requires HERO Rank or higher.
Housing Islands
By default, a player has access to 1 housing island. However, additional housing islands may be accessed by players with supporter ranks - with each rank unlocking an additional island. (For example, a VIP would have 2 housing islands, whereas a CHAMPION would have the maximum of 5.)
Block Bank
The Block Bank, similar to the banks found in most towns, can store blocks bought from the block merchant, as well as some "starter" blocks that are automatically added to the block bank once the player creates a house. These starter blocks include:
- 64x Oak Planks
- 32x Oak Logs
- 32x Oak Stairs
- 64x Cobblestone
- 32x Cobblestone Stairs
- 64x Stone Bricks
- 32x Dirt
- 32x Grass Block
- 64x Oak Leaves
- 16x Glass Pane
- 16x Oak Fence
- 4x Poppy
- 4x Dandelion
- 1x Oak Door
Block Merchant
The Block Merchant is an NPC who sells you blocks for building on your Housing Island. He is located by the Block Bank. The merchant sells a large variety of blocks in exchange for materials gained from doing professions. As more blocks of the same type are purchased by the player, the amount of resources required to buy that block begins to increase. The Block Merchant also sells various NPCs such as the Trade Market and Item Identifier.
Notes:
- It is possible to use both gathering products
- Both variants of a resource can be used to purchase blocks.
These blocks require Mining resources in order to be bought.
