The Exemplar is a level 115 Hostile Mob and miniboss that can be encountered during the Silent Expanse Expedition Lootrun.

Combat

The Exemplar is an extremely large melee enemy that follows the player and deals damage by coming into contact with them. Like other lootrunning mobs, it will gain more health and attack damage with each successive challenge.

The Exemplar deals ✽ Water damage with its attacks. It takes reduced ✽ Water damage, but more damage from ✹ Fire attacks.

The Exemplar is immune to all Knockback, Blindness, and Slowness effects. It will use several abilities, including Pull, which pulls the player towards it; Charge, launching itself towards the player, which it will chain many times in a row to fly around the arena; Heavy Teleport, teleporting itself in a straight line and potentially damaging and blinding the player if they are caught in its path; and Heavy Arrow Storm, rapidly shooting a huge number of dangerous but inaccurate projectiles.

The Exemplar cannot drop anything.

Location

The Exemplar is found at the False Respite, a slay target objective in the Void Valley that can be encountered during Silent Expanse Expedition Lootruns; it is the target that must be slain to complete the challenge. It spawns alongside the second of four waves of weak but numerous Lost Eyefolk and Starlight Witnesses.

Trivia

• The name Exemplar is a reference to an enemy of the same name in the video game Darkest Dungeon II.
• The Exemplar is related to the Little Ones and Greater Ones, creatures found in the depths of the Nameless Anomaly.
• The Exemplar's body incorporates the heads of Starlight Witnesses as well as Nonexistent Gazers, an unused mob originally designed for the Nameless Anomaly.
  • The Exemplar's hands are also made of Decay Claws, a custom weapon skin.
• According to Builder Deusphage, the Exemplar is a "counterfeit God. Originally some maladaptation of some strange thing from the Archipelago, it grew in strength from the supplication of its followers. They made their own bodies oblations to their false deity, and become part of the terrible thing. With time, it began to grow more and more similar to its followers."
