The Fool Eater is a Rare Mob and Boss found across the Silent Expanse.
Combat
Stalk Phase
The Fool Eater has a rare chance of spawning at certain nodes across the Silent Expanse. When she first appears at a node, she will watch the player and their movements, fleeing if approached or directly looked at. She will do this again two more times, triggering the fight with her when she is encountered for the third time.
Boss
The Fool Eater will begin combat by ambushing the player, attempting to catch them by surprise with an attack and then stun them with a howl.
Melee attacks will drain her target's mana, rapidly dwindling it and making using movement spells to escape or a heal spell difficult. Bite attacks have additional true damage that will hit targets through their defense and agility, making getting too close to the boss a death sentence.
Fool Eater's lunge will have additional effects if its target is far away or above it, causing Fool Eater to make a claw attack upon reaching the position of her target.
The lower health Fool Eater has, the more often she will attempt to use the Devour move against her opponents. The chance of the boss performing these abilities increases at 80% health, 20% health, and eventually becoming the only move other than Ambush it'll use at 5% health.
Weakened Form
After defeating the Fool Eater, she will turn into a small wolf-like creature. In this state, she will have a Scared AI, causing her to flee from the player and not attack them. After a few seconds, she will disappear.
Drops
The Fool Eater can drop several miscellaneous items, Crafting Ingredients native to the Silent Expanse, and a varying amount of
Emerald Blocks. Notably, it also has its own unique, guaranteed drops, being the
Gruesome Carnassial and
Fool's Errand.
Locations
The Fool Eater can spawn at certain nodes in the Ruined Olmic City, Eyeball Forest, Toxic Wastes, and Void Valley.
Trivia
- Fool Eater was originally intended to be a lootrun challenge mob with 2.0.3's release.
- Fool Eater's ingredient drops - other than the Gruesome Carnassial - are previous meals[1] from across the Silent Expanse.
- Fool Eater is a reference to one of Deusphage's original characters.
